Leash Your Leads

Where this started

Marketing for Sacramento Dog Businesses

I've trained dogs in Sacramento since 2012. I rebranded in May 2026, and a designer built me a site that looked genuinely good — that part she nailed. What neither of us had was the layer underneath: the keywords, the H1 structure, the schema, the things that decide whether Google can even tell what a page is about.

An illustrated map of Sacramento with a leash tracing a route to a dog business, marking the neighborhoods served across Sacramento, Roseville, and Folsom.

That's a different job, and almost nobody is doing both. So I learned it, obsessively, and then built the tool I wished existed. That tool is this. Leash Your Leads exists because I needed it first — and she and I are now working through it together, so the sites she builds next come out findable as well as beautiful.

Here’s how I work

When a dog business reaches out from Sacramento, I sit down with you and look at what you've actually got — the site, the Google Business Profile, what someone searching right now would find. Then I tell you what's working, what isn't, and what fixing the gaps involves, in plain language. If your business is hard to find online, that's the problem I solve.

Let me be straight about two things, because a Sacramento dog pro reading this should be wondering about both.

First, the conflict: I also run a dog training business here. So I'm not taking on full marketing packages for Sacramento training businesses that compete with mine — that would be working against a client either way. What I will do locally is consultations. Sit down, look at what you've got, tell you what's actually wrong and how to fix it. If you'd have paid me for the knowledge, I'd rather just give you the knowledge.

Second, that this is early. I'm not going to pretend I have a decade of agency case studies. I've been a dog trainer since 2012. This side of it — the SEO, the schema, the technical groundwork — I've been deep in since spring 2026, and I've built a tool for it that I use every day. Leash Your Leads started in June 2026, so the client list is short — a small number of dog pros who are early in this too. One had a site that wasn't indexed by Google at all and had no idea. Another had a genuinely good site with none of the technical groundwork done. That's the pattern I keep finding, and it's why I'd rather work with people who want to build the thing properly than people who want a number to go up this month.

If you want to see the work, go look at my own business — wholisticcanine.dog. It is not finished. There are pages I still need to tune, a blog I'm still filling in, and a running list of things I know are wrong with it. That's the honest state of it, and it's the same state most sites are in. What's there now — neighborhood pages, a rebuilt Google Business Profile, schema that actually validates — is work I did on myself first, because I'm not putting anything in front of a client that I haven't tested on my own name.

And because it's my own business, I can show you the inside of it. Not a screenshot in a case study — the actual Search Console data, what moved, what didn't, and how long it took. That last part matters more than people expect. Impressions climb first and clicks lag behind them, sometimes by months, and that gap is where most people decide it isn't working and stop. I'd rather you see that happen on my numbers before it happens on yours. We're both early in this. I'd rather work it out as a team than sell you a finish line I can't promise.

What makes me

And here's what makes me different: I don't want your money forever. Some SEO companies keep you on the hook — and if you ever stop paying, they strip out everything they built for you. I do the opposite. I build things that stay yours, and I teach you what you need to know so you can run with it. When you've got it, you've graduated. I'm here when you need me after that — same as a good trainer is there for their clients, not billing them for life.

This is the market I actually live and work in, which cuts both ways: I know it well, and I have to be careful about who I take on here. Consultations are how I help Sacramento dog pros without competing with the people I'm supposed to be helping.

I also work with dog businesses in Austin, Denver, Phoenix, Nashville and Portland.

I price this the same way I price training clients — start with a single Visibility Consultation, move into a Training Package when you're ready, or let me handle the heavier lifting with Day Training. Locally the consultation is the realistic option: I'm not taking on full packages for Sacramento training businesses that compete with mine, so a sit-down where I tell you what's wrong and how to fix it is what I can honestly offer here. However we work together, you'll graduate to simple check-ins when you've got it. See the full options on my pricing page.

Sacramento dog business questions

What kinds of dog businesses do you work with?

Trainers, groomers, daycare and boarding, walkers, sitters — if you work with dogs and need to be found online, we should talk. I focus on the details specific to your kind of business.

You're a Sacramento dog trainer too. Isn't that a conflict?

It would be, so I won't pretend otherwise. I run a dog training business here, and I'm not taking on full marketing packages for Sacramento training businesses that compete with mine — I'd be working against a client either way. What I will do locally is consultations: sit down, look at what you've got, and tell you what's actually wrong and how to fix it. If you'd have paid me for the knowledge, I'd rather just give you the knowledge. Dog pros outside my lane here, and anywhere outside Sacramento, are a different story.

How long have you been doing this?

Years in dogs, months in this. I've trained dogs in Sacramento since 2012. The marketing and SEO side is recent — I learned it because my own rebranded site was invisible and I had to fix it, and I've been working at it obsessively since. I'm not going to dress that up as a decade of agency experience. What I can tell you is what I've found in every dog-business site I've looked at so far, and what it takes to fix it.

Do I have to be in Sacramento to work with you?

No. The work is remote — I look at your site, your Google Business Profile, and what people searching in your area actually see, and none of that needs me in the room. Sacramento is just where this started and where I happen to live. Local SEO works the same way in any city; only the keywords change.
